Since the music sold through PODDS comes complete with AVLA licensing, will DJ's still require an AVLA hard drive license for the music I currently have stored digitally on my computers?
The PODDS agreement only allows the DJ to publicly perform sound recordings that they have downloaded from PODDS. This licence is different than the AVLA Hard Drive Licence.

Will I need to continue to renew my AVLA Hard Drive Licence in order to use my library of music not purchased through PODDS?
Absolutely, DJs will have to continue to renew their AVLA agreement if they are using AVLA member’s sound recordings that haven’t been sourced from PODDS.

What kind of file format does PODDS use? What are the quality differences?
PODDS does not use MP3s. Instead, it uses a proprietary audio file format called MPE (.epm) to maximize audio quality while keeping file sizes manageable. It is a variable bitrate compressed file that has a minimum bitrate of 256kbps and no maximum bitrate. Unlike MP3s, MPE files are encoded using a perceptual algorithm. This means when a song is more dynamically complex, the bitrate will increase. A song file downloaded from PODDS will always sound better than even the highest quality 320kbps MP3. Please feel free to download an MPE Relative Quality Test (PDF) document for more details.
